Random Facts About Me

*Growing up, I was told the night I was born there are an alignment of all nine planets. However, I found out later than actually happened a year later.

*I travelled to China, France, and England all before I turned 18.

*This is my third blog. My first was a school project for a “digital” media class. The second was mostly reviews of whatever media I was consuming that week.

*I am gay. It’s not something that always defines my actions, but it’s something I am reminded of almost every day.

*Most of my adult professional life has been spent teaching English grammar. I currently specialize in teaching English as a Second Language. It’s not something I ever thought I would do, but it’s something I enjoy doing.

*Other jobs I’ve held: campus tour guide, bookseller, writing consultant, box office manager, supervisor at of an early voting poll site, and copy editor

*My historical heroes are Benjamin Franklin, Leonardo da Vinci, Zora Neale Hurston, and John Quincy Adams

*My contemporary heroes are Rachel Maddow, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, and AOC

*I’ve read a book about every US president, including the current one.

*I study French in my spare time, and occasionally try to consume French movies and TV shows (with subtitles). I recently also have begun learning Esperanto. I don’t really have a practical reason to learn either language, although studying a new language has given me insights on what it is like for my ESL students studying English.
